Lenses

Our full service optical laboratory is equipped with the latest manufacturing equipment to allow us to produce most pairs of glasses on premises in about an hour. Our lab includes the manufacturing of single vision, bifocal, progressive, and hi-index lenses. We also carry lenses with special coatings such as anti-reflective, scratch resistant, ultraviolet protection, and blue light filtering. The lab is also equipped for custom orders that include lens tinting and rimless frame design.

Type of Lenses

  • Progressive lenses offer a no line design that allows for clear vision at distance and near along with intermediate distances. (picture of progressive lenses)
  • Bifocal lenses have a portion of the lens dedicated for distance viewing and another for near tasks through a visible segment.
  • Transitions lenses respond to changes in lighting conditions. They are clear indoors but darken when exposed to UV light. The lenses block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. They are convenient for those who do not like carrying around an additional pair of glasses for protection from the sun.
  • Hi-index lenses are specially designed lenses which are thinner and lighter compared to lower index lenses. They are recommended for individuals with high power prescriptions.
  • Blue light lenses reduce the exposure of harmful blue light given from digital devices. These lenses are recommended for those that are frequently in front of computers or other digital screens.

Contact Lenses

At Discount Optical, we offer a wide selection of contact lens designs and brands. Our experienced contact lens fitters are certified to provide fitting and evaluation of contact lenses. We also provide contact lens insertion and removal training for new contact lens wearers. We offer a large selection of contact lens designs including multifocal, toric, rigid gas permeable, and colored contact lenses.
